Summer 2008

The current programme of drum circles has come to an end for the Summer, and will continue in September. The date is not yet fixed, so if you would like to be kept informed, please sign up to our mailing list here. We'll let you know as soon as we know.

Venue:

Square Chapel Centre for the Arts
10 Square Road, Halifax, HX1 1QG.

Everybody is welcome in a drum circle.

No musical knowledge is required and no experience of drumming is necessary. When we come together in a drum circle we can celebrate our community life In a unique and exciting way. It is a place where we can express our own rhythm, and at the same time experience the interconnectedness of playing together as a group. The drum circle is designed to empower the participants and to create a group dynamic that is uplifting, energising and above all FUN!! The emphasis is not on learning "how to be a drummer" but on allowing ourselves to just DRUM. This workshop format is suitable for use in specific communities e.g. special educational needs, mental health, prison service and schools/colleges or for general community use e.g. workshops, carnivals, school fete.

Our community facilitator Paul Dear has trained with Arthur Hull in Hawaii in 2001 & 2002 completing the basic training and then returning as a mentor. He has since Mentored at the last 5 UK facilitator Playshops. Arthur Hull is the founder of Village Music Circles and the author of the highly recommended "Drum Circle Spirit.
